Fuse F3 in the engine bay fuse box - it'll be a 10amp (red) fuse and more than likely blown! When replacing, try uprating to a 15 amp (blue).. You are correct that the AC will switch off when ECO mode comes on - but ECO mode 'listens' for many things including the AC setting and the cabin temperature. If it starts to warm up too much ECO mode will turn off to allow the AC to operate again. D.
